Wedding photography with a Mediterranean soul

Juanjo Vega, wedding photographer based in Barcelona, with his camera, in black and white
Juanjo Vega, Barcelona

I am Juanjo Vega, a Barcelona wedding photographer since 2010. I live in a small village between vineyards, pine forests and the Mediterranean. I trained in advertising photography and art direction, and that is where my way of seeing comes from: light, composition, detail.

I look for spontaneous moments, the light that transforms a space, real emotion. Natural, honest photographs with an editorial eye, that will still make sense in ten or twenty years.

I photograph weddings in Barcelona, in Sitges and all along the Costa Brava, and I travel across Spain and Europe for destination weddings. My work has been published in The Lane, Bride Lifestyle and Hola Novias, and I also photograph for brands like Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Vogue.

Every wedding in the journal is a real story: the venue, the light, the people and the small moments in between. From cliff-top ceremonies on the Costa Brava to villas by the sea in Sitges and celebrations further away, these are some of the latest.

What your day will feel like

Polished and spontaneous How your wedding day will feel

Bride and guests raising their glasses in a toast at a long outdoor dinner table
A long lunch, among friends15:20Digital photograph.

Most of the day I am close but quiet: in the room while you get ready, among your guests during the ceremony, at the edge of the dance floor when your friends lose it completely.

You live the day, and I look for the moments that tell your story. The laughter, the nerves, the tears nobody planned, the people who travelled from far away to be there with you.

And when it is time for the photographs you will want to keep forever, with your friends while you get ready, with your family, the two of you at golden hour, I make them easy, relaxed and beautifully composed.

That is the balance couples tell me they are looking for: images that feel natural and emotional, with an editorial eye for light, detail and composition. Every image edited by hand, in colour and black & white.

The seen and the unseen, in twelve frames

The whole weekend, not just the day Destination wedding photographer in Barcelona & the Costa Brava

Most of my couples travel from far away, and so do their guests. A destination wedding in Barcelona or on the Costa Brava is rarely one day: it is a welcome night, the wedding and a brunch or a pool party the day after. I can be there for all of it, so your story includes the moments your guests remember most.

Friday · welcome party

The night before

Welcome drinks, first hugs, everyone finally in the same place. Often the most relaxed photographs of the whole weekend.

Saturday · the wedding

The wedding day

From getting ready to the first hour on the dance floor: close but quiet, with time set aside for the portraits you will want to keep.

Sunday · brunch or pool party

The day after

A brunch or a pool party with the people who stayed: no schedule, no nerves, just the best stories of the night before.

The approach

Candid, editorial wedding photography in four ideas

  1. Guest hugging the groom tightly during a wedding at El Convent de Blanes

    Honest Presence and awareness

I work with discretion, attentive to what happens and how each scene develops. Letting everything flow, so each image fits naturally into the story of the day.

  2. Bride with a white parasol and her shadow on a sunlit white wall at Masia Cabellut

    Editorial Aesthetic intent

Composition and framing are not casual. Even in the most spontaneous moments there is a decision behind them: the light, the space, the exact moment.

  3. Groom in a white tuxedo walking under white arches by the sea at Masia Casa del Mar, Sitges

    Mediterranean Rhythm and narrative

Every wedding has its own rhythm, and the Mediterranean has its own light. I adapt to that energy to build a cohesive visual story, from the preparations to the party.

  4. Bride laughing with the groom at the dinner table, black and white

    Timeless Editing and consistency

Natural editing, true to daylight. No filters that go out of style, no trends that will feel out of tune in ten years.

For planners

Working with your planner

Most of my weddings are planned by wedding planners, many of them from abroad, so I’m used to working as part of their team: coordinated on timings, in tune with the other suppliers and always easy to work with. It’s a pleasure to work alongside your planner.

How far in advance should we book?

12–18 months ahead is ideal, especially for May to October. I photograph only one wedding per day.

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Barcelona?

My wedding collections start at €3,150 (VAT included) for the wedding day. Most couples choose Signature: the wedding day, the welcome party and a second photographer. I send the full guide to my collections after your first message.

Can you cover the whole weekend?

Yes. Welcome dinners, rehearsals and day-after brunches can be added, so the story includes the moments your guests remember most.

How many photos will we receive, and when?

Between 700 and 800 edited images in an online gallery, delivered within 12 weeks, with a first preview of 40–50 photographs within a week.

Do you travel?

Travel within 100 km of Barcelona is included. I photograph weddings all over the Costa Brava, Sitges, Mallorca, Europe and beyond.

Do you photograph elopements and LGBTQ+ weddings?

Yes, often. From two people on a boat at Cap de Creus to big celebrations by the sea: every couple is welcome, and every story is told with the same care.

Do you also offer video?

I focus on photography and recommend trusted videographers I work with regularly.
